Lawsuit Claims Gross Incompetence – Denver Wrongful Death Attorney

August 12th, 2010

A lawsuit has been filed by relatives of a Denver family killed by carbon-monoxide in an Aspen area house. According to 7News, the lawsuit was filed against companies that worked on the house and county building inspectors. The lawsuit alleges that gross incompetence led to the 2008 wrongful deaths of the Lofgren family. The family won a church auction for a getaway to stay in the home over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The term “wrongful death” usually refers to a civil lawsuit filed between the family of a victim and the person they believe to be responsible for the victim’s death. A wrongful death can be defined as either negligent or unjust, with the actions of one causing the death of another. Wrongful death cases differ from state to state, however they are all the same in principle. The accused party will have behaved in a way or committed an act that caused the victim’s death, or the defendant would have behaved in a negligent manner that led to the victim’s death. The victim is survived by a spouse, family members or dependents and there are grounds for a monetary settlement. A settlement will generally be awarded for medical and funeral expenses, as well pain and suffering and loss of financial support.

Has your family suffered the tragic and unnecessary death of a family member caused by the negligence of another? Wrongful death cases may arise because of a variety of incidents, including car accidents, aviation accidents, or medical malpractice. Saul Sarney wants to make sure that the surviving family is compensated for their loss to the fullest extent of the law. July 30th, 2010

TheDenverChannel.com (7News) is reporting that “Pueblo police are looking for the driver of a truck that was one of two vehicles that struck a 50-year-old pedestrian who later died from her injuries.” The pedestrian, who may have been intoxicated, was hit by a Buick and then a truck while crossing the street. The driver of the Buick stopped to offer assistance, but the driver of the truck kept going. Police are fairly certain the injuries sustained by the truck are what killed the pedestrian. Police have a description of the truck and its driver from witnesses.

In the United States, a pedestrian is killed in a “traffic crash every 120 minutes and injured in a traffic crash every 8 minutes.” According to a statistic report by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Saftey Administration), nearly 4,400 pedestrians were killed in accidents involving vehicles, while 69,000 were injured. Pick-up Truck and Cement Truck Collide – Denver Semi-Truck Accident Lawyer

June 3rd, 2010

9News is reporting that a man died this morning after his truck hit a cement truck head-on. The accident happened on Highway 56 east of Weld County Road 1. Investigators say that the pick-up truck was heading east and the cement truck heading west. Investigators are still trying to figure out why the accident happened but don’t suspect alcohol to be a factor.

When a large truck and a passenger vehicle collide, the results can be devastating. According to the “Large Truck Crash Causation” study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, when a passenger vehicle is in an accident with a tractor trailer, semi truck or an 18 wheel truck, the smaller vehicle’s passengers are more likely to be seriously injured or killed than those in the truck. The study reviewed 120,000 large truck accidents that occurred from April 2001 to December 2003. The study involved 241,000 total vehicles where injuries directly resulted from the accident finding that 44,097 crashes resulted in incapacitating injuries.

Children’s Tylenol Recall – Denver Children’s Injury Attorney

May 3rd, 2010

CNN is reporting that more than 40 over the counter children’s drugs are being recalled due to not meeting quality standards. The recall is not due to any negative medical events but rather as a precautionary measure. Those drugs include children’s Tylenol products and children’s Motrin products, among others. The recall was issued after Consumer Healthcare/ McNeil consulted with the FDA and determined the drugs did not meet quality standards. Parents are urged to not use any of the recalled products for their kids.

Poor quality in children’s over-the-counter drugs could possibly lead to accidental poisonings or adverse reactions to those drugs. According to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Drug and Poison Information Center, in 2000, 1.2 million children nationally under the age of five were exposed to potentially poisonous substances. It is estimated that seventy percent of accidental poisonings are preventable. A partial list of products that can be potentially dangerous include acetaminophen (Tylenol and Motrin), antifreeze and insecticides.

When you give your children over-the-counter medications, you expect those drugs to be of the highest standards. You never believe that those drugs could be harming your child or causing injury. Injuries to children are especially disturbing for many reasons. The effects of injuries on a child may have a profound impact upon their physical, emotional and intellectual development. If your child has been seriously injured as a result of poor quality standards in over-the-counter medications, please call Denver Children’s Injury Attorney Saul Sarney at 303-759-3300 today for a free consultation.
