A Fort Collins man was killed Wednesday morning following a fiery car crash. According to the Denver Post, Jason Downey was driving on Larimer County Road 19 when he ran off the road, overcorrected and rolled his vehicle. Mr. Downey was ejected from his vehicle when it rolled over and burst into flames. A passing motorist used their vehicle to push the burning vehicle away from Mr. Downey. An investigation will determine whether speed, alcohol, drugs or other factors played a role in the accident.
A car accident can result in serious injury and death. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, 37,261 people died in motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. in 2008.
A Colorado personal injury attorney should be retained when an accident results in the death of a loved one. Injury cases may arise because of a variety of incidents, including car accidents, aviation accidents, defective products, job injury, or medical malpractice.
Pursuing an injury claim will not bring your loved one back to you, but it will ensure that you and your children will have increased financial security in the years to come. Surviving family members may be entitled to recover compensation for expenses and losses. A jury may award your family monetary damage awards to recover some of the expected losses.
